ABOUT AVRO

Project experience, carried forward.

Avro was created to bring field experience and historical execution insight into project decisions earlier.

The goal is to help teams identify where exposure is building before it becomes cost, schedule, rework, change, or commissioning pressure.

WHY AVRO

Created to address a pattern that kept repeating.

Avro was founded by Matt Kjelland and Jeremy Fostvelt, drawing on more than 25 years of combined experience across complex industrial projects.

Across field execution, engineering, project management, and construction management, they saw the same pattern take different forms.

Serious project impacts were rarely caused by one major failure. More often, they developed as assumptions, decisions, gaps, changes, and dependencies compounded across design, procurement, contracting, construction, and commissioning.

By the time those impacts became visible in the field, their source often sat several phases behind.

Projects may capture lessons after the work is complete, but those lessons do not always guide the next design, procurement, schedule, or execution decision.

That pattern became the basis for Avro’s approach: bringing experience forward while project teams still have options.

Meet the team behind Avro

Matt Kjelland

Matt is a construction manager with 19 years of experience across oil and gas, ports and terminals, bulk material handling, and mining. His projects have spanned structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, civil, instrumentation, HVAC, architectural, and supporting systems. That breadth has given him a practical understanding of how multidisciplinary scopes come together in the field and where gaps between them create risk.

His experience began on remote oil and gas facilities, where he worked across fabrication oversight, international logistics, field installation, commissioning, and early operations training. He later carried that whole-project perspective into major Canadian coal and potash developments with complex engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning interfaces.

Matt has seen the consequences of incomplete scope, late engineering decisions, disconnected procurement, and poorly managed interfaces. Through Avro, he brings practical construction experience forward to identify those gaps, understand their downstream effects, and align the right people before issues become field problems, schedule impacts, or change orders.

Avro’s perspective is informed by Matt and Jeremy’s work across previous roles and projects.

Their sector experience includes:

• Ports and terminals
• Water and wastewater
• Process facilities
• Mining and minerals
• Bulk material handling

Co-Founder

Jeremy Fostvelt

Co-Founder

Jeremy is a project manager with a civil engineering background and more than 10 years of experience across industrial, port and terminal, and water and wastewater construction. His work has included concrete, foundations, buildings, heavy civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation scopes.

Across major infrastructure and industrial projects, Jeremy has led mechanical and electrical work, project controls, procurement, change management, schedule development, temporary works, shutdown planning, and commissioning coordination. His experience includes live operating environments where construction sequencing, tie-ins, safety requirements, vendor information, and operations coordination had to be resolved without disrupting ongoing service.

Jeremy brings a structured understanding of how technical decisions, project controls, and field execution affect one another. Through Avro, he applies that experience to clarify requirements, identify dependencies, and help project teams establish a more practical path from planning through construction and commissioning.
